Now for our first question can you tell us how long have you been modeling for? On and off for 8 years.
When and how did you get started modeling? I loved looking and W and Victories Secret when I was 13 and thought how amazing it would be if I could be in these magazines and catalogs. I always lived in the middle of nowhere and it was difficult to go anywhere to get in touch with photographers. So when I was older I walked into a modeling agency and they told me my hair was too long, I was prettier in person than in my picture and I would never get hired as a model. I told her she was wrong and I left. I was crushed but I kept going. 2 weeks later I book my first photo shoot with a photographer that was coordinating one of her agencies fashion shows… I was also hired to walk the runway in that show.
What was it about modeling that caught your interest and inspired you to get into modeling? I love art, fashion and make-up, always have, but coming from a low income family I had very little opportunities to feel like I had access to that. A model is art and fashion wrapped up in one. I always thought of myself as the ugly duckling Kids made fun of my grade school pics, all the other girls thought I was too tall and too thin. I thought that modeling would be a way to show people what I thought of myself, as living art in photographs.
Was there someone that you looked up to that inspired you with the work they have done in their modeling career? Milla Jovovich. Model and actress, love her.
What do you remember about your first photo shoot and can you tell us about your first experience and how you felt getting in front of the camera? Hahah, I thought it was a mess hahah. I got my hair striated for the very first time and I thought I looked sooo great. However when I got in front of the camera I was a hot mess. The Photographer was talking to me and we had great conversation. He told me to act like I do when I talk to him, but do it in front or the camera. But when he pointed the camera at me I got very serious and not so natural haha.
I can see that you have a lot of different types of photos, is there a certain type or style that you really like to do? I love swimwear, and artsy athletic looks, like the one of me hanging from the crane.
How do you prepare before each photo shoot? Drink lots of water, relaxing bath and a good night’s sleep.
What are the things you do to keep your body in the shape that it is in? I walk/run 4 days a week, my own personalized multi version of core work, and free weights for my arms and added strength.
What’s your most memorable modeling experience? Oh, wow. I would have to say that I don’t know if it’s the most memorable but, this year I had a great time at the areas yearly Junkyard shoot. It was my first time going and I was so busy and asked by every person I walked by if they could shoot with me. I felt like the most popular girl in school. Plus I go to meet some amazing photographer.
In your opinion what are some of the things that make for a good model? I take direction very well. I’m very energetic and am willing to push myself for the best possible picture.
When you started modeling did you have the support from your family or was anyone against it? I remember my family was not real keen on it. They said I should be singing instead… but now, they know how great a feel about what I do.
Where do you think you fit in more when it comes to the modeling industry, high fashion modeling, commercial fashion, commercial modeling? I think i would fit more into High fashion and swimwear. I have the height and dynamic I believe for fashion and I feel that I have a good body for swimwear.
What do you like doing more indoor shoots or outdoor locations? I enjoy shooting on Locations.
Do you have a favorite photo that is most popular with your viewers / fans? Right now I would say the photo of me hanging from the crane. I have had so many people complimenting and saying it’s one of my best pics. The other one would be me leaning against a barrel in a small pair of shorts.
Are there any plans for you to make your calendar, posters or tshirts? Or if you do have any of those products do you have somewhere they can be purchased? I have a picture book right now and that can be purchased by contacting me on my website.
Besides modeling is there any other talents that you have that nobody knows about? If I see something I can make it. I make everything, I craft, I make wood furniture and repurpose nearly everything. I also sing.
What type of things do you like to do on your free time? I love to swim and scuba dive. I also like camping and riding my quad.
Are looking to get into TV Commercials, Music Videos or Movies?
If you have already please tell us a little something about your experience you have done and where viewers can find you? I would love to get into all of that!! I have been in 21 different on stage theatrical plays and musicals.
If you can give any advice to any other girls looking to get into the modeling industry what advice would you give them? Believe in what you want to do. Maybe you will get told you can’t do this or you’re not good enough… KEEP going. Perhaps you may not have things work out the way you hoped, but it means something better and more tailored for you WILL come along, just keep your eye out for it. Above all encourage others in the same field. You never know what your words can do to boost someone spirits, or inspire someone.
And before we close out this interview would you like to leave us with a favorite quote of yours? “To see a world in a grain of Sand…” W.B.
Thank you for taking the time to answer a few of our questions and we look forward to seeing more of you and the things you have coming out next.
